ASSAULT RIFLES

INSAS(Indian small arms system):-

The INSAS is the primary assault rifle of the Indian army. It is a gas-operated, selective-fire rifle that fires 5.56x45mm NATO rounds.

It has some drawbacks like a tendency to jam, cracking during freezing temperatures, or its transparent magazine.


AK-47 :-

The Indian army uses a large number of AK-47s because it is easy to operate. It is a gas-operated assault rifle that is chambered for 7.62x39 mm rounds. Its mass is 3.4 kg without a magazine and its rate of fire is approx. 600 rounds per minute. Developed in the soviet union by Russian small firearms designer Mikhail Kalashnikov, it is the originating firearm of the Kalashnikov family of rifles.


AK-74 :-

The AK-74 is a variant of the AK-47 that fires the 5.45x39mm round. Its mass is 3.07 kg without a magazine and its rate of fire is approx. 600 rounds per minute. The Indian army has a small no of AK-74s in its inventory.


AK-103 :-

The AK-103 Is the modern variant of the AK-47 that fires 7.62x39mm round. Its mass is 3.6 kg in the stock variant and the rate of fire is approx. 600 rounds per minute The Indian army recently purchased a large number of these rifles to replace INSAS.



AK-203 :-

The AK-203 is a Russian gas operated designed to chamber the 7.62x39mm cartridge. It is one of the latest iterations of the AK series. Its mass is 3.8 kg in stock variant and capacity to fire approx. 700 rounds per minute. The firearm was originally known as AK-103M before being renamed to AK-203 in 2019. The first batch of 70000 guns imported from Russia is in service. 601427 rifles to be manufactured in India. will be the standard service rifle to replace INSAS.

 


TAR-21(TAVOR) :-

The IWI  TAVOR TAR-21 is an Israeli bullpup assault rifle chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO calibre, designed and produced by the Israel weapon industry. its mass is 3.27 kg and capable of firing 750-950 rounds per minute. It is locally manufactured by PLR Systems of India. Special forces of the Indian army use the TAR-21 extensively.




IWI X95 :-

The IWI X95 (formerly known as the micro-TAVOR, MTAR or MTAR-21 is an Israeli bullpup assault rifle chambered in 5.56x45 mm   NATO calibre and designed and produced by Israel Weapon Industry. Its mass is around 3.3-3.6 kg and its rate of fire is 750-950 rounds per minute. It is locally manufactured by PLR Systems of India. It is mostly used by special forces.






M16A2 :-

The M16A2 is an American-made assault rifle that fires 5.56x45mm NATO rounds. The Indian army has a small number of these rifles in its inventory.


SIG SAURER 716:-

The SIG SAURER 716 is an American battle rifle chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO calibre and designed and produced by SIG SAURER. The Indian army has recently purchased a large number to replace the INSAS And this is used by the Northern Command in counter-insurgency operations.


M4  CARBINE:-

The M4 carbine is a 5.56x45 mm NATO, gas-operated carbine developed in us .its mass is 2.92 without a magazine and its rate of fire is 700-950 rounds per minute. It is used by special forces of the Indian army.


                                                                                                                         

       FN SCAR:-

The FN SCAR is a Belgium-made short-stroke gas piston automatic rifle developed by manufacturer FN Herstal. Two variants of FN SCAR are used by special forces of the Indian army.

The FN SCAR L is a 5.56x45 mm NATO round assault rifle, its mass is 3.29 kg, and its rate of fire is 550-650 rounds per minute.

The FN SCAR H is a 7.62x51 mm NATO round battle rifle, its mass is 3.58 kg, and its rate of fire is 550-650 rounds per minute.
